Official Band Photo!

We got into the Listener's 70th Anniversary issue in their column about radio shows. I'd like to say the media came knocking on our door, but I basically talked us up to my old quiz show comrade Sarah Barnett (in this case it wasn't just who you know, but how much trivia you know, too).

The column necessitated a photo, which was a bit alarming. We've put up cell phone-style shots of us before on this site, and we were "always  meaning" to do something with a better camera. But you know we're a bit older now, and the sort of posturing you get in band photos is a bit embarrassing.

For our photographer we used our chum Andy Loughnan. For our camera we used my partner Sally's mighty DSLR (pity we didn't have it set on night shot). To pump ourselves up we watched David Lynch's Dune (terrible), and John Woo's Hard Boiled (possibly the Greatest Movie Ever Made). We also went through a pack of liquorice allsorts and a pack of pineapple lumps.

The photoshoot was great. This time I got to keep my clothes on... Also, it was quite funny.

Reviewing the photos the morning after was a bit disturbing, but I picked some candidates to and sent them to Michael who photoshopped gimped them up. We couldn't find one that didn't have one or the other of us looking ludicrous, so Michael took bits from some and munged them together with varying levels of transparency.

I present to you our """official""" photo:

Towards the end of the "shoot", and possibly running low on ideas, Andy suggested that Michael pretend he was a tree unfurling its branches to the heavens, and that I pretend I was a cat after a saucer of milk. Here's one of those photos:

We would like to extend a challenge to Shapeshifter to post photos of themselves looking like dorks on their website.
